Machinist IILocation: Bridgeton, MO, US, 63044 Job ID: 114938Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time, skilled Machinist II to support prototype and job shop machining operations in Bridgeton, MO. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and inspecting precision-machined parts with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have experience using conversational programming, Mastercam, and Mazatrol to create machining programs for CNC mills and CNC lathes. Candidates must be able to read and interpret blueprints and perform final inspection of their own parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges.Job ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate machine tools (e.g., lathe, milling machine) to machine partsVerify conformance of machined parts to specificationsMeasure parts to close tolerance using precision measuring devicesStudy specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes productComplete machine programming and set-up as requiredAnalyze specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assemble parts to make and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools, applying knowledge of tool and die designs and construction; shop mathematics; metal properties; and layout, machining, and assembly proceduresApply mastery of skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriateCompute dimensions and plans layout and assembly operationsResponsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budgetFollow written work instructionsWork under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needsMay perform more detailed task that require deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and proceduresRely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goalsAble to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departmentsResolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levelsServe as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issuesBe a self-starter and demonstrate good decision making abilityMust maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS)Proper use of required PPEMay periodically assist in orienting and training lower level employeesMay participate in LEAN Events, "Six S" activities, action teams etc.Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationIf required, perform all aspects of inspection: in-process, final and sourceQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED2+ years of experience in machiningExperience using conversational programming, Mastercam, and Mazatrol to create machining programs for CNC mills and CNC lathesAbility to read and interpret blueprints and schematicsAbility to walk, sit, stand, stoop, climb, kneel, and bend for extended periods of timeAbility to lift heavy materialsAbility to access and work within restricted spaces in and around vehicles when necessaryThe salary range for this position is $45,112.00/year- $58,646.00/year for the state of Illinois. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity.
