Agricultural Program Assistant - Extra-Help

Position Summary Salary: $28.55 - $34.70 hourly Location: Santa Rosa, CA Job Type: Extra Help Department: Agriculture/Weights & Measures Department (AGC) Responsibilities Place and service insect traps for the Pest Detection Trapping Program. Collect data, identify insects and detect invasive pests during the trapping season. Operate vehicles safely in all weather conditions, both on and off road. Work outdoors in all weather, including uneven terrain and variable conditions. Qualifications Valid California driver’s license. Agricultural or entomology experience and/or relevant coursework. Strong safety awareness. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail, strong customer‑service skills, and a passion for serving the community. Basic Microsoft Office, data entry, and computer skills. Knowledge of planting, growing, treating, and harvesting agricultural crops; methods of controlling noxious weeds; pesticide use; audio‑visual aids; and computer applications relevant to agricultural projects. Ability to learn to operate and maintain equipment and vehicles; communicate orally or in writing; develop effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, officials, community representatives, and the public; perform basic research; and use common software. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Any combination of paid or volunteer work, college internships, special agricultural projects, or related tasks that provide the knowledge and abilities described herein. Education: Coursework or training in natural sciences, statistics, and related subjects.
