Assembly Mechanic - Quality Inspector Company: Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking an Assembly Mechanic - Quality Inspector to support the Aerospace Composites Center (ACC) in Hazelwood, MO. The Aerospace Composites Center has state‑of‑the‑art enabled capabilities and operates to support Boeing’s Fighter Programs. Position Responsibilities Assemble precision assemblies; set up and operate ream fixtures to drill, ream, countersink, spot face, hone and bore for mating major assemblies. Set up and operate shot peen equipment for stress relieving assemblies as required. Install press‑fit and force‑fit bushings; file, fit, hone, ream, drill, tap, saw, burr, and adjust as needed. Assemble various production aircraft and spacecraft parts and install aircraft equipment, support equipment or power plant equipment. Install, operationally check out, adjust, rig and pressure‑check systems. Perform bench and assembly line operational check‑out, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust electrical and electronic systems, lighting circuits, power plant systems, wing fold circuits, missile launch racks, aircraft instrumentation, flight test instrumentation, fire wiring system, and fuel system. Assemble, install, check out physical characteristics and modify wire bundles for aircraft mock‑ups. Bench assemble electrical or electronic components and conductors into units and systems before methods and procedures are established. Cut, identify, strip, tin, solder, attach components, and pot to prepare wire for assembly. Tie, seal, and pack assembled bundles and units. Install wire bundles or other electronic components in aircraft, power plants or ground support equipment. Assemble aircraft and/or spacecraft structures or support equipment structures with or without jigs and fixtures by drilling, reaming, countersinking, stop countersinking, dimpling, burring, fastening, filing, fitting, aligning, trimming, shimming and removing surface defects as assigned. Perform skilled assembly operations such as shimming, fitting, trimming and aligning; realign or replace ribs, bulkheads or stringers; establish from blueprints; blind pick up hole locations; correct outer skin defects. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre‑Start and a final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start are required. The candidate must obtain program access, also requiring U.S. Citizenship. Basic Qualifications 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of assembly experience or relevant military assembly experience. 1+ years of experience with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation. Quality inspector experience. Currently hold or have held a security clearance in the past 24 months. Additional Information This is a union‑represented position. This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM 837) Collective Bargaining Agreement. The selected candidate must be able to work any shift as assigned. New hires and employees transferring from non‑union positions may be required to attend training upon start. All new employees will be considered on probation for 120 calendar days; continued employment is contingent on successful completion of the probationary period. Shift This role is primarily first shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.
