Our mission is to connect our community to economic and cultural opportunities through safe, reliable, and accessible mobility experiences.Accountability: We are legally, ethically, and morally committed to utilizing all resources responsibly with integrity and transparency.Diversity: We promote, embrace, and value all individuals.Safety: We ensure safe and secure environments.Excellence: We strive for quality in everything we do.Teamwork: We actively promote effective communication, collaboration, and partnerships.Respect: We value and treat all with dignity.BENEFITS WE OFFERFull-time positions with guaranteed 40 hours/week.Medical, dental, and vision (effective on the 1st of the month, 30 days after the start date).Free on-site wellness clinic for employees and their families.Retirement plan (401A and 457B).Tuition reimbursement.Free IndyGo transportation for employees and their families.Federal Loan Forgiveness ProgramPOSITION PURPOSEThe Facility Maintenance Technician will perform simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms preventive maintenance in conjunction with all building maintenance and/or cleanliness-related items.Travel to different sites for service calls.Performs scheduled and nonscheduled repair, maintenance, and installation of machinery, tools, equipment, and/or associated equipment to ensure continuous and safe operation of the property.Directly or indirectly supports all exterior grounds activities, including grass cutting, dumping trash, landscaping, the parking lots, and other exterior area needs.Directly or indirectly supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems and water distribution, and sewage facilities.Supports all sanitation processes and procedures, including rodent and pest control.Performs painting and small-scale structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, wallpaper and treatments, and furnishings of buildings.Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals pertaining to facilities and equipment installed and serviced.Surveys work requirements, measures and calculates materials, labor, and systems requirements, prepares material lists, and carries out required tasks in a timely and efficient manner.Responds to emergency maintenance requests; troubleshoots issues to determine cause and solution.OTHER FUNCTIONSMaintains records regarding ground maintenance activities.Assists licensed plumbers, electricians, and HVAC personnel as appropriate.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNoneEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEFormal trade school or an associate degree in facility management, engineering program, or a related field preferred.Minimum of two (2) years experience in the maintenance trade, with strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs required.A valid Indiana driver's license is required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to read and understand drawings, schematics, blueprints, landscaping techniques, drainage systems, and site preparations and comprehend verbal descriptions pertaining to components.Knowledge of electrical systems, allowing for repairs or adjustments up to and including changing fluorescent ballasts, 120V receptacles, replacing electric motors, identifying and replacing lamps for all applicable fixtures, and keeping stock of same.Ability to reset (adjust) time clocks and controls for various building systems.Knowledge of plumbing systems, allowing for repairs or adjustments of faucets, clogged traps, clogged toilets, flush valves, and irrigation systems.Operational knowledge of the methods and practices used to construct and shape sheet steel, aluminum, plastic, fiberglass, wood, plywood, and other materials commonly used in facilities.Operational knowledge of mandated safety principles related to personal protective equipment, chemical hazards, lockout/tagout, and general shop safety and cleanliness practices.Ability to select and use correct parts, tools, and test equipment to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.Ability to maintain accurate records.Ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand.Ability to understand and follow directions and procedures.Proven decision-making and problem-solving abilities.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage tasks and time effectively and adapt to frequent changes in workload.Ability to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors and coworkers.Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.Ability to work independently with work checked regularly.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those an individual must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Position requires an individual to remain stationary for extended periods without being able to leave the work area. May have to move or position themselves to work at floor level and in confined spaces May have to move occasionally between departments and/or facilities.Requires some exposure to machinery/equipment, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, fumes/odors, some hazardous materials, and dirt/dust.Ability and willingness to work in close quarters, at heights, and outdoors and to repeatedly move or transport heavy objects weighing up to 75 pounds.Local travel may be required occasionally between various Agency locations.Ability to use tools to perform work, including removing and installing small parts and components and regularly adjusting, assembling, testing, and operating equipment.Must have tools required to perform daily routines. Some tools will be provided.Must be able to pass all post-offer physical testing and complete all physical job functions as defined in the Functional Job Description.Ability to work night and weekend work shifts and overtime regularly due to assignment shifts being picked according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.IndyGo is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
