Campus Transportation Manager - IDEA Hope (26-27)

Role Mission Provide safe transportation for up to 1,000 students on a daily basis while reducing operational cost. Successfully manage a team of up to 20 people and partner with campus leaders to drive success. What We Offer Compensation for this role is set at an hourly rate ranging between $22.57 for 0 years of experience and $28.22. Performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment. Experience: Operation of large passenger vehicles or equivalent training; ability to manage student behavior. License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with class P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements. Completed bus driver safety training course. Must be over 21 years old. Pass alcohol and drug tests. DOT Physical Examination. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). What You’ll Do Ensure the safe transportation of all students with zero preventable incidents/accidents. Screen and test candidates for excellent school bus operating skills. Provide full training in Pre/Post Trip inspections. Lead a culture of safety, set examples, and hold the team accountable for safety initiatives. Maintain up-to-date credentials and complete all required trainings on time. Ensure compliance with schedules, laws, codes, and regulations. Oversee daily dispatch operations and monitor two‑way radios for bus issues, lateness, and accidents. Respond to driver accidents, conduct investigations, gather evidence, assist students and staff, and obtain reports from police and highway patrol. Respond to emergency calls after hours and on weekends. Maintain efficient operations with a cost per mile under $3.70. Develop driver schedules that allow drivers to focus on driving while on duty. Audit team participation to prevent system abuse. Monitor preventive maintenance to avoid costly repairs. Serve as a substitute bus driver when needed. Create a work environment fostering a minimum of 85% transportation staff retention. Ensure employees are screened for quality and dedication, and understand expectations before hiring. Maintain fleet safety and achieve a 7% savings on maintenance cost over the previous year. Use Transfinder to create and update routes at campus level; keep routes short, accurate, and within roster constraints. Maintain up‑to‑date route and student records in Route Finder. Use Synovia to analyze planned vs. actual routes, drop‑down stop‑by‑stop data, and overall fleet activity. Provide excellent customer service by communicating with school staff, administrators, parents, and outside agencies to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
