Dearborn, Michigan Communication Specialist #1065084 Position Description The ET Communications Lead and Editor-in-Chief sets the editorial direction, governance standards, and measurement strategy for communications across the Enterprise Technology (ET) organization. This role serves as the central editorial steward and operational owner for ET wide communication channels while partnering with communicators across decentralized teams to ensure alignment, clarity, and consistency. Additionally, this position leads the adoption of modern, AI-enabled communication tools and champions best practices to maximize audience engagement across the organization. Skills Required Communications, Microsoft Office, Employee Engagement, Strategic Planning Experience Required Specialist Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field. 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, editorial management, or internal media channels within a large, matrixed organization. Demonstrated experience establishing editorial guidelines, brand standards, and formal channel governance models. Proven track record of evaluating and optimizing multi-channel communication networks and publishing workflows. Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency across the Microsoft 365 suite (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Copilot). Hands-on experience extracting and analyzing platform analytics, e.g., SharePoint metrics, Viva Engage analytics, email campaign metrics, etc. Familiarity with AI tools and workflow-enablement technologies, including testing, prompt refinement, and user adoption. Communication & Influence: Exceptional editorial and written communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional peers, challenge assumptions constructively, and present findings to senior leadership. Organization & Autonomy: High degree of self-direction and accountability to manage publishing deadlines, maintain operational tools, and lead cross-organizational initiatives independently without direct reports. Education Required Bachelor's Degree Additional Information Key Responsibilities Editorial Leadership & Channel Governance Editorial Direction & Content Curation: Serve as the Editor-in-Chief for primary ET communication channels e.g., weekly newsletter, MS Teams, Viva Engage, establishing publishing schedules, curating high-impact stories, and enforcing quality, voice, and narrative standards. Brand & Marketing Standards: Define, document, and maintain ET-wide communication, visual, and narrative standards aligned with corporate guidelines; ensure all ET-level messaging reflects modern, audience-first storytelling rather than transactional updates. AI Tool Ownership & Adoption: Own the lifecycle, iteration, and maintenance of the channel-recommendation AI assistant; actively pilot features, gather user feedback, and drive adoption among communicators across ET. Channel Integrity & Guidance: Serve as the primary steward for channel usage, guiding communicators toward appropriate channels and maintaining firm governance when requests do not align with channel strategy. Analytics, Measurement & Operating Strategy End-to-End Metrics Ownership: Directly pull, validate, and analyze readership and engagement data across ET communication channels to establish a consistent, unified reporting baseline. Executive Insights & Reporting: Translate engagement metrics into executive-level reporting that highlights audience trends, experimental outcomes, and data-driven recommendations to evolve channel strategy. Channel Optimization & Alignment: Collaborate with communicators and stakeholders across ET to reduce communication noise, optimize shared publishing workflows, and improve overall alignment across distributed teams.
