Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of incoming materials and outgoing finished goods. This role ensures the orderly control of inventory and coordinates intra-company shipments.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming raw material and inspect for damages.

• Store newly received material in an organized fashion and in its designated area.

• Complete the receiving process within Syspro for purchase orders and materials as determined by Purchasing.

• Notify appropriate personnel when special packages arrive, such as courier shipments.

• Collaborate with plant operations and purchasing to arrange shipping of material between plants.

• Load trucks with finished goods and materials going to other facilities.

• Prepare and package outgoing materials for shipment.

• Work with Inside Sales to ensure shipments have the correct paperwork, including packing slips, labels, customs documents, and bills of lading.

• Assist production personnel by ensuring raw material is available at the workstation.

• Collaborate with purchasing and plant personnel to produce monthly or spot checks of critical inventory items.

• Operate a forklift in a safe manner.

• Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.

• Adhere to all ISO 9001 policies and procedures.

• Keep all work areas clean and organized.

• Identify opportunities for improvement within the scope of the position.

• Demonstrate flexibility to assist in other areas of production based on production needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Experience in inventory control, shipping, and receiving.

• Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents such as packing slips, invoices, and production job packages.

• Proficiency with ERP computer systems.

• Highly organized with the ability to work independently and make good decisions.

• Proficient in the use of common hand and power tools, including measuring.

• Ability to work effectively with various departments within the organization.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with logistics and material handling.

• Ability to operate a forklift safely.

• Knowledge of order selection processes.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily on the shop floor, requiring a mixture of standing and sitting, but not in a fixed location. The role involves regular lifting of up to 50 lbs and requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, welding eye protection, gloves, and safety shoes. The standard shift is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with Fridays often ending at 3:30 PM. A 30-minute lunch break is provided, and overtime may be required depending on order volume.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suwanee, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
