TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment days may be
established by HCBOE
SALARY : Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Hampshire County Teacher Salary Schedule,
commensurate with experience and education level with county supplement plus competitive benifits package equal to approximatly 35% of direct compensation.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and
in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and HCBOE Evaluation Policy Job Summary:

Valid Support certificate for Speech/Language Pathologist; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate;
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach, stand, walk, lift, grasp, write, talk, hear, see, use technology such as computers and multimedia equipment, and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 10 pounds of materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members. Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as vocational/technical laboratories where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as consultant to classroom teachers when assigned to School Based Assistance Team or when requested by the Director of Special Education or principal
- Complete screening of pupils as member or chairman of school screening team when assigned
- Help with evaluation and re-evaluation of pupils as assigned
- Participate in Eligibility Committee meetings and individualized education program (IEP) meetings as appropriate
- Check out, sign, and read all pupil files prior to individualized education program meetings
- Complete individualized education programs for all pupils served in their program by date of review
- Maintain a notebook on pupils enrolled in her/his program that includes a copy of the individualized education program
- Maintain date related to assessment of individualized education program objective
- Provide speech, language, and hearing screening and diagnostic services
- Select pupils with significant communication problems for placement in speech and language therapy. Selection is based on a complete evaluation, written report and eligibility meeting
- Develop a plan for provision of appropriate therapeutic services to meet the needs of the pupils to be enrolled
- Consult with classroom teachers, principals, and other professionals and convey pertinent information to them
- Plan and conduct parent conferences which would include providing information, support and counseling, when appropriate
- Effect appropriate follow up procedure on pupils dismissed from therapy
- Review all relevant files on pupils
- Use appropriate and efficient record keeping and evaluation systems
- Refer pupils to cognizant personnel
- Check quality/distortion of hearing aids on weekly basis
- Supervise classroom teachers in their daily check on pupil's hearing aide
- Serve as liaison with audiologist
- Maintain records and submit monthly reports to RESA for Medicaid eligible services
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by principal for Director of Special Education
