Examiner Physician Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran and helps positively impact their care. Pay Range: $145,600.00 – $175,600.00 / year ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including review of patient history, physical examinations, and assessment of the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel required to support other LSGS Clinics. Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Veteran’s medical history and health condition. Render objective, evidence‑based medical opinions regarding the extent of the Veteran’s health issues and their impact on the ability to work and perform daily activities. Use the case management system to organize workload, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights for a thorough evaluation. Document examination findings in clear, concise reports following VA guidelines, contractual obligations, and established formats. Partner with all relevant departments to gain support and use resources necessary to complete tasks and meet deadlines for optimal performance. Manage time effectively and schedule all C&P exams, confirming availability and ensuring timely completion. This responsibility is vital to the services we provide to each Veteran. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations, providing the highest level of accuracy, fairness, and quality. Collaborate with the QA team to submit thorough and accurate examination findings. Maintain compliance with all VA training requirements and stay updated on VA MDE program requirements. Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information and examination results in accordance with privacy and security protocols. Ensure HIPAA compliance, including annual assessment of basic knowledge, and adhere to additional training or re‑testing if required. QUALIFICATIONS Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program and hold a valid, unrestricted PA license in all 50 states, DC, or applicable territories. At least one year of experience working as a Physician Assistant. Previous experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred. Basic Life Support certification, including renewals. Previous military experience or familiarity with the military or veteran communities is preferred. Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous. Demonstrated proficiency in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based medical opinions. Empathy and compassion toward patients, ensuring a respectful, patient‑centered evaluation process. Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills to interpret complex medical information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical concepts clearly. Uphold ethical standards, maintain objectivity, and ensure fairness in evaluations. Detail‑oriented mindset with focus on accuracy, data quality, and alignment with LS and VA standards. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, managing multiple initiatives and adapting quickly to meet business needs. Strong customer focus and a sense of urgency. Authorized to work in the United States, including any federal contractor requirements. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense, carry out detailed instructions, and solve problems with a few variables. TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITY Proficiency with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, and electronic medical record systems. Familiarity with Teams and learning management systems is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must lift up to 15 pounds occasionally. Vision, hearing, smell, and full range of motion required for comprehensive physical examinations. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 10% travel to support other clinics, plus additional travel for required training or company events.
