Graduate Intern - Budget

Overview The City of Grand Prairie is seeking an Intern to gain hands‑on experience in budgeting and finance. Responsibilities include preparing meeting minutes, retrieving and entering financial data in Financial Software, and creating Excel reports. The intern will assist with updating reporting packages and work on special projects to develop key analytical skills. Responsibilities Preparing minutes from budget review meetings. Retrieving financial reports using Financial Software. Entering financial data into Financial Software.Preparing monthly financial information and reports. Creating various end‑user Excel reports from data extracts. Updating reporting package for Budget staff. Working on special projects as assigned. Assisting with other management services departments, including purchasing, audit, and debt management, as needed to gain additional knowledge. Qualifications Education: Must have a High School Diploma or GED and be currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants should be a Junior or Senior Undergraduate or Graduate student in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Skills: Finance, accounting, and/or statistical classes. Strong Excel skills (Required). Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to prepare accurate and comprehensive meeting minutes. Detail oriented, with ability to problem solve. Ability to work independently. Capacity to learn proprietary systems quickly.
