ABOUT THE TEAM

As Software Engineer, you will join the team responsible for pulling our massive simulation workloads out of the cloud and onto first-of-its-kind, on-premise hardware racks. You will build the software automations, tooling, and infrastructure to deploy these physical server racks directly to customer sites and internal testing labs. This will allow operators to train and test drone swarm capabilities 24/7 with zero variable cloud costs. This is a pure software and systems engineering role. You will write actual code to solve low-level infrastructure, networking, PKI, and orchestration challenges this is not a standard consumer-web SRE role, a manual sysadmin position, or an ML/data pipeline role. We need an experienced engineer who can operate with high autonomy, design MVP systems from scratch, and mentor junior engineers as the team grows. Responsibilities Build, automate, and maintain the next-generation simulation platform that migrates massive virtual testing environments off AWS and onto physical, on-premise hardware racks. Write clean, production-grade software and configuration management tooling (primarily in Python, Go, or Rust) to turn complex hardware configurations, security boundaries, and networking requirements into a seamless "push-button" deployment. Debug complex, distributed systems issues across multiple layers of the stack, from physical network protocols and bare-metal hardware up to the software application layer. Improve core system reliability through root-cause analysis, system monitoring, and the creation of custom tooling capable of managing large-scale, physical edge deployments. Required Qualifications 3+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1+ year focused specifically on low-level infrastructure, bare-metal deployment, or systems engineering. Production-grade software development skills in Python (required), with a strong willingness to write or learn Go or Rust for infrastructure tooling. Deep hands-on experience and familiarity with either Kubernetes OR NixOS. Demonstrated technical expertise in systems engineering, including networking protocols, application development, and operating system internals. Bachelors, Masters, PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Math, or relevant field Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Active U.S. Secret or TS/SCI security clearance (highly preferred). Experience building, scaling, and managing physical, on-prem server racks, private networks, PKIs, and certificate infrastructure (rather than purely cloud-native AWS/GCP setups). Experience with Nix/NixOS for reproducible configurations and deployment. Experience managing GPU-accelerated workflows and physical hardware nodes for graphics, parallel computing, or intensive simulations. Prior experience delivering and maintaining systems that run on air-gapped, security-hardened networks within the defense, aerospace, or space sectors. US Salary Range

$166,000—$220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
