Overview & Highlights:

• Location: Scottsdale, AZ — a central Valley location with easy access across the greater Phoenix area
• Schedule: Full-time, normal business hours
• Compensation: $105,000–$135,000 annually

Location & Logistics:

• Work Environment: Integrated behavioral health and primary care, spanning in-clinic and virtual service lines
• Department or Team: Behavioral health leadership — four Behavioral Health Managers report to this role, alongside close day-to-day collaboration with seven Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), Behavioral Health Care Coordinators (BHCs), and operational teams
• Patient-Facing Responsibilities: This is a leadership position. The Director supports providers, care coordinators, and program quality rather than carrying a patient caseload
• Systems / EMR / Software: Electronic health record, CoCM registry, and measurement-based care reporting; the specific platforms in use are reviewed during the interview process
• Travel: Site coverage and any travel expectations are reviewed during the interview process
• Reporting Structure: Directly oversees four Behavioral Health Managers and partners closely with psychiatric providers, billing, compliance, and operations leadership

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

This is an end-to-end leadership role over an integrated and virtual behavioral health program built on the Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) model. You own the operational health of the program: how patients get access, how psychiatric providers and care coordinators work together, how escalations are handled, and how consistently the model is followed across every site it touches.

A typical week moves between people leadership and program mechanics. You meet with your four Behavioral Health Managers on staffing, workflow friction, and performance; you work alongside the PMHNP group on medication management, escalation pathways, and clinical decision-making; and you review KPI dashboards covering access, engagement, quality, and outcomes to decide where the program needs attention next.

The rest of the role is building. You will partner with billing and compliance on CoCM billing and psychiatric E/M documentation, tighten the workflows that connect behavioral health to primary care, hire and develop behavioral health leaders, and help the program scale without losing fidelity to the model. There is real room to shape how behavioral health is delivered here, not just to maintain what already exists.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide end-to-end strategic, operational, and people leadership for integrated and virtual behavioral health services
• Oversee four Behavioral Health Managers and collaborate closely with seven PMHNPs
• Provide leadership and direction to psychiatric providers, Behavioral Health Care Coordinators (BHCs), managers, and operational teams
• Ensure fidelity to the Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) model and to established clinical workflows
• Lead the integration of behavioral health services within primary care
• Establish clear ownership of medication management, escalation pathways, and clinical decision-making
• Monitor and analyze KPIs covering patient access, clinical outcomes, engagement, quality, and operational performance
• Partner with billing and compliance teams to support CoCM billing and psychiatric E/M documentation
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, development, and performance management across behavioral health leadership and team members
• Identify and drive improvements to workflows, clinical quality, operational efficiency, and the overall patient experience
• Support the continued growth and scalability of integrated behavioral health services

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
• 5+ years of leadership experience in behavioral health operations, integrated care, primary care, or a related clinical healthcare setting
• Proven experience leading managers and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Strong understanding of psychiatric provider workflows and measurement-based care
• Full-time availability during normal business hours, based in the Scottsdale, AZ area

Preferred Background:

• Previous experience directing or leading a behavioral health team (strongly preferred)
• Experience with Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) models (strongly preferred)
• Experience having healthcare providers or clinical professionals report directly to you
• Familiarity with integrated behavioral health and primary care — valued, but not a dealbreaker
• Experience with virtual or telehealth behavioral health services
• Familiarity with CMS CoCM billing codes 99492–99494 and psychiatric E/M coding

• Are uncomfortable directing licensed psychiatric providers or holding managers to performance standards
• Want a fully remote position, or one without regular presence in the Scottsdale area
• Prefer a static program over one that is actively scaling
