Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Nurse (PCU/Step-Down) – Western North Carolina

Start Date: October 7, 2026
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Every other weekend required; 12-hour shifts available; Patient ratios 4:1 (may extend to 5:1 during high census)

Highlights:

• 44-bed Progressive Care Unit specializing in neurological and trauma patient populations
• Advanced care environment utilizing Cerner EMR and comprehensive clinical technology including IV pumps, PCA pumps, chest tubes, and patient lifts
• Comprehensive case mix: neuro and spinal assessments, chest tube management, lumbar drain care, blood transfusions, and feeding tube placement
• Collaborative team of 95+ clinical staff with dedicated charge nurses, CNAs, and unit coordinators on each shift
• Float opportunities to other step-down and medical-surgical units for professional growth and skill diversification
• Supportive, patient-focused work culture in a mountainous regional setting

Requirements:

• Current North Carolina RN license or ability to obtain
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (required)
• Documented experience in neuro and trauma care settings (required)
• Progressive care or step-down unit experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with advanced clinical procedures including C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tubes, PCA pumps, and blood administration
