Toolroom Machinist PositionCretex Medical is a leading contract manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the medical device industry. Our customers view us as a trusted partner in the areas of injection molding, laser processing, metal stamping and device assembly.The Toolroom Machinist will be responsible for working in a precision tooling environment setting up and operating 3 and 5-axis mills to manufacture multiple stamping die, plastic injection, and fixture components.ResponsibilitiesManufacture fixturing and tooling from engineering drawings with minimal assistanceBuild reliable tooling components on timePerform maintenance on Toolroom equipmentEnsure revision levels of paperwork and tooling components are currentTroubleshoot using numbers based scientific approach, and determine best solutionsDocument maintenance and build activities in required databasesWork closely with others to ensure the best practices are used during the build of all tooling componentsSet up and operate 3 and 5-axis mills to produce high quality precise tooling components and other piece partsSetup and operate toolroom measurement equipmentAdhere to all safety policies; includes wearing personal protective equipment when requiredAccurately records and reports hours workedSupport and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirementsRead, understand, and follow work instructions and standard workUnderstand customer needs and the core business markets we serveEnsure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properlyParticipate in required company meetingsMaintain an organized work area (5S)Participate in the Operational Excellence ProgramComplete all other work duties as assignedAbility to work in a manufacturing environmentQualificationsTechnical degree or equivalent experience7–10 years of experience operating CNC mills, including experience with both 2-axis and 5-axis machinesCapable of performing work activities driven from work orders, project plans, and maintenance procedures, and training documentsStrong interpersonal skillsGood troubleshooting skillsCritical thinking and writing 10 years of machining precision componentsGood ability to conceptualize complex geometry and assembliesGood ability to troubleshoot the machining processBasic theory of cutting tools and machining processStrong math skills, including trigonometryAdvanced theory of cutting tools and machining practices required to manufacture tooling componentsAdvanced ability to troubleshoot by reading surface finishAbility to read, comprehend, follow and document work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training documentsMechanical aptitudeDexterity and hand and eye coordinationAbility to use a microscopeAbility to read and comprehend drawings and GD&TMicrosoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)Clear and effective verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detailOrganizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced team environmentAbility to prioritize and multitaskPreferred Qualifications:Proficient on the set up and operation of 3, 5-axis mills and palletizers.Medical Device manufacturingBasic skills and knowledge of Lean principles and toolroom process flowWhat is it like to work at Cretex Medical?We recognize the contribution of every individual and promote growth, safety and security for all our employees.
