Master Carpenter

Job Description Job Description Summary We’re looking for an experienced carpenter to join our team and help us create the next generation of beautiful designs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, as well as experience with a variety of tools and techniques. He or she will be able to work independently, as well as take direction from our lead carpenter. Duties & Responsibilities: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, or power tools Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard Install trim pieces such as moldings, casings, or baseboards. Hang drywall sheets, apply plaster or other compounds, and sand seams between sheets to prepare wall surface for painting or wallpapering Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, millwork, and hardware Plan and lay out work to sequence and alternate finish installation, considering appearance, access, and structural support Required Skills and Qualifications Proven experience as carpenter Solid understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction Excellent mathematical skills and understanding complex plans and drawings. High attention to detail and accuracy Good physical strength, stamina, and coordination Ability to work long hours standing, bending, and stooping. 3-5 years experience in construction and or carpentry work. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Leadership and supervisory experience Project management experience Working knowledge of CAD software and other computer programs Cabinet making and wood product experience a plus.
