Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing specialized nursing care to pediatric oncology patients in a Proton Therapy Center, ensuring safety and quality treatment delivery. Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support complex cancer treatments and patient needs.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and medication under physician orders while adhering to safety protocols.
• Monitor pediatric patients' vital signs, assess responses to treatments, and manage side effects.
• Maintain central lines, ports, and IVs, ensuring proper access and care.
• Collaborate with radiation therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment plans.
• Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records using Epic or similar systems.
• Provide patient and family education on treatment procedures and post-discharge care.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid California RN license; ETA for licensing is acceptable.
• Possess at least 1 year of inpatient or outpatient pediatric hematology/oncology experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV starts, port access, and central line maintenance.
• Have BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and preferred APHON certification.
• Experience in radiation therapy, sedation, or pediatric oncology strongly preferred.
