Custodial Equipment Repair Assistant

Job Description Primary Purpose Maintain custodial equipment in a condition of operating readiness; performing routine repairs and preventive maintenance. Qualifications Education/Certification High school diploma or GED preferred Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility Requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance Special Knowledge/Skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Bilingual – Spanish/English preferred Basic knowledge of custodial equipment maintenance Ability to analyze problems to reach repair solutions Knowledge of basic bench tools and concepts Experience Minimum 2 years equipment repair experience Major Responsibilities and Duties Assume responsibility for the safe and efficient operating condition of custodial and emergency response equipment. Perform routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and new installations. Document repairs and preventative maintenance utilizing the current work order management system. Work with Custodial Equipment Repair Technician, Lead and Assistant Lead Custodians, Fixed Assets, and Maintenance Director to maintain accurate inventory of site‑based custodial and emergency response equipment. Travel to schools to facilitate repairs, preventative maintenance, and/or train custodial staff in proper operating procedures based on manufacturer’s recommendations. Work in cooperation with Maintenance Supervisors to maintain the district’s preventive maintenance and energy management programs. Participate in the district Standard Reunification Protocol as directed by the Incident Commander or designee. Demonstrate integrity and ethics. Be available for after‑hours demands. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e., email, written, and verbal). Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned. Equipment Used Including but not limited to vacuum cleaners, buffers, carpet extractors, sweepers, fans, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers.
