Construction Inspector

Job Description WSP, one of the world’s leading engineering firms, is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee road, bridge or associated construction projects ranging from $1 to $50 million. The position may be based in Portland, Augusta, or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH. The inspector will oversee work elements including excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast‑in‑place concrete (from formwork to reinforcement), installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings, joints, bridge rail, drainage, paving and other incidental items. The inspector reports to the Resident Engineer or their designee. Your Impact Interface with contractor supervisors to determine and monitor daily work. Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities. Coordinate independent material sampling and testing, or periodically perform the same. Monitor maintenance of traffic. Take and compile photographs to track daily progress. Help update red‑line drawings using Bluebeam. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Who You Are Required Requirements High School Diploma. 5 years of applicable experience. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn. Valid driver’s license. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Requirements Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field. Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite. Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems; knowledge of Bluebeam. ACI, NETTCP certification or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring. Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
