NBI Scientist (Experimental Negative-Ion Injector)

Bring your negative-ion source and accelerator expertise to Realta Fusion and help build the NBI technology powering the next generation of fusion energy. The NB I Sci entist ( Experimental Negative-Ion Injector ) will provide dedicated negative-ion source and accelerator hardware capability as the program moves beyond concept development, simulation, and partner-supported early testing. This role will support the design, development, testing, and optimization of negative-ion injector hardware and associated systems. The position will work closely with scientific and engineering teams to translate beam-physics requirements into experimental hardware and support the advancement of Realta’s NBI technology.

Key Responsibilities  

1. Primary experimental responsibility for NBI - based negative - ion source development and test-bed operation.

2. Bridge source and ion-optics modeling with operating injector hardware.

3. Build dedicated negative-ion commissioning knowledge for future HAMMIR systems.

4. Complement with positive-ion NBI operational experience with i n- d epth expertise in negative-ion-specific hardware .

Background and Experience  

• Hands-on experience with negative-ion or ion sources, extracted beams, high-voltage accelerator systems or comparable injector hardware. 
• Vacuum systems, plasma/source operation, beam diagnostics, conditioning and experimental troubleshooting.
• Understanding of extraction, co-extracted electrons, accelerator grids and source-to-beam coupling.
• Ability to design test plans, commission hardware and translate observations into design changes.
