Registered Nurse (RN) - Ambulatory Surgery Center OR - Days

Clinical Nurse II Responsibilities This role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and applies this knowledge to a specific patient population. Responsibilities include preventing illness and injury, maintaining wellness, and providing comfort. The nurse recognizes changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately. The nurse mobilizes resources to meet individualized needs of patients/families. The nurse provides direction, education, and assumes leadership responsibilities at the unit level. The nurse delivers and accurately documents direct, age‑specific care based on medical orders and an integrated multidisciplinary plan of care. The nurse safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions. Clinical Nurse III Responsibilities This role demonstrates clinical knowledge at the unit level and applies it to a specific patient population. Responsibilities include preventing illness and injury, maintaining wellness, and providing comfort. The nurse anticipates changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately. The nurse provides direction, education, and serves as a role model. The nurse delivers and documents direct, age‑specific care based on medical orders and an integrated multidisciplinary plan of care. The nurse safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions. Licensure, Certification, and Registration Requirements Clinical I, II, III: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state. Continued Employment Requirements All Levels: Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent. Experience Requirements Clinical I: N/A. Clinical II: 12‑24 months RN experience. Clinical III: 3 years clinical experience. Preferred Experience Clinical I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in acute care or relevant practice area. Clinical II & III: Academic health care experience; experience with similar patient population in acute care or relevant practice area. Education and Training Requirements All Levels: Diploma or Associate’s Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the state Board of Nursing. RN without Bachelor’s degree must enroll in approved RN to BSN program within two years of hire and complete within five years unless grandfathered. Preferred Education All Levels: Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher from accredited program. Certification Clinical III: Certification in specialty area. Independent Action Follows documented physician/licensed provider orders. Practices within Virginia nursing regulations, ANA Code of Ethics, VCUHS policies and procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities All Levels: Organizes work, delegates, supervises RN’s, LPN’s, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries. Schedule Clinician works all three shifts, weekends, and holidays. Shift rotation and schedules established with Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules may be adjusted as necessary. Physical Requirements Lifting 20 lbs. Exposure to hazardous/infectious substances. Activities: prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, mental/sensory and emotional demands indicated.
