Since 1997, Advocates for Life Skills and Opportunities (ALSO) has been committed to fostering independence and community inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through employment support, residential living, and in home services.


Position Overview:


As a Children Support Professional (CSP) at ALSO, you'll provide person-centered care to youth (up to age 18) with intellectual and developmental disabilities at home and out in the community. In our Children's Residential Program, youth have access to 24/7 direct support provided by our dedicated team of advocates. As a CSP, you'll assist with skill building, emotional regulation, personal care, and behavioral health support in the everyday lives of the amazing individuals we serve.


Key Responsibilities:

• Relationship Building: Cultivate positive, supportive connections with children and help them build trust and confidence in their abilities.
• Skill Development: Provide emotional regulation skill-building, social skills practice, and support with everyday activities.
• Person-Centered Care: Apply trauma-informed approaches to create a safe, supportive environment tailored to each child's unique needs.
• Engagement: Facilitate meaningful interactions through play and encourage participation in recreational, educational, and community activities.
• Direct Support: Assist with hygiene, medical support, and daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and activity planning.
• Transportation: Drive children to school, appointments, and community outings.
• Compliance & Documentation: Maintain proper documentation to meet compliance standards.
• Teamwork & Collaboration: Work as a team to balance responsibilities, facilitate open communication, and innovate ideas to offer the best support possible.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Starting Pay: $19.50 - $21 per hour, based on experience, education, and Veteran status.

Qualifications:

• Integrity, professionalism, and consistency.
• Dependable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to apply trauma-informed approaches and assist with emotional regulation skill-building.
• Physically active and able to engage in play, lift/reposition up to 50 lbs., and complete household upkeep, including cooking and cleaning.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

All candidates considered for employment are required to successfully pass a comprehensive background check prior to joining ALSO and ongoing every two years.
