If you leave your computer and return later, you may time out.*REMINDER: Current DCSD employees must apply through their district log-on, this application is for external candidates only!*## **Job Posting Title:**Library Specialist## Job Description:Responsible for the overall management of the Library Media Center (LMC), including but not limited to: promotion of literacy, supervision and instruction; oversight of the library collection, equipment, and circulation system; providing assistance to students and staff using and working in the LMC; and developing and promoting community relations. Assists classroom teachers in providing literacy and research enrichment to students. Must complete DCSD required training for new library staff. ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: - Mostly clean and comfortable; some noise ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to bend and lift up to 40 lbs - Frequent sitting & standing## Position Specific Information (if Applicable):## Responsibilities:Perform routine tasks such as answering phone calls, maintain a clean and organized library environment, and other necessary tasksHelp plan and participate in special library events (district-wide events and school specific events)Perform necessary record-keeping for all library resources, including a full inventory of all resources no less than every two yearsSchedule and support activities for the library program which may include author days, reading promotions and incentives, and school-wide literacy activitiesManage training, scheduling, and supervising of student assistants/aides and community volunteers in the LMCLoan library materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources to students, staff, and other DCSD school patronsPerform other library related duties as assigned or requestedProcess returned materials such as books, textbooks, and other resourcesMaintain and repair library materialsDuties include instruction, supervision, management, and programming in the Library Media CenterOrganize and reshelve returned itemsManage materials using our library management software (Destiny)Attend District trainings pertaining to the library: Destiny, databases and digital resources, collection development, weeding, purchasing, etc.Manage loans between DCSD school libraries (ILL loans)Follow the DCSD media policy and board policies pertaining to the libraryAssist classroom teachers in maintaining supportive learning environments in the LMC in accordance with information literacy/research standards and DCSD’s priority learning outcomes Assist students and staff when using print and/or DCSD digital resourcesSupport DCSD curriculum and reading advocacy; supervise students in the library in conjunction with a licensed teacher## Certifications:## Education:High School or Equivalent (Required)## Skills:Ability to use Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs, Attention to detail, Basic library management knowledge preferred (Destiny and Dewey Decimal System), Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes, Effective oral and written communication skills, Enjoys reading and willing to read, Maintains a generally positive attitude, Must feel comfortable reading aloud to students, Observes all District policies and procedures, Strong customer service skills, Strong organizational and time management skills, Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions## Position Type:Regular## Primary Location:Frontier Valley Elementary## One Year Only (Yes or No):No## Scheduled Hours Per Week:17.5## FTE:0.44## Approx Scheduled Days Per Year:176 Work Days* *(260 days indicates a year-round position.
