Heirloom Consignment in South Portland is seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead the daily operations and continued growth of our furniture and home décor consignment store.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong retail leadership with an appreciation for furniture, design, and creating an exceptional customer experience. This is an active, hands-on position for someone who enjoys leading a team, driving sales, managing inventory, building relationships, and making a retail business run exceptionally well.

What You'll Do

● Lead daily store operations and ensure a welcoming, organized, and customer-focused environment.

● Manage, train, schedule, and motivate store employees.

● Drive monthly and annual sales goals and monitor store performance.

● Oversee the full consignment process, including item acceptance, pricing, merchandising, markdowns, sales, and returns.

● Monitor inventory aging, turnover, and sell-through to maintain a desirable and productive inventory mix.

● Build strong relationships with customers and consignors and resolve concerns professionally.

● Maintain a beautifully curated showroom that reflects the Heirloom brand.

● Manage store expenses, staffing levels, inventory accuracy, and operational procedures.

● Support marketing, promotions, special events, and community partnerships.

● Identify opportunities to improve sales, efficiency, customer experience, and profitability.

What We're Looking For

● 3–5 years of retail management experience; furniture, home furnishings, consignment, resale, or specialty retail experience is a plus.

● Proven ability to lead a team and achieve sales and operational goals.

● Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

● Experience with inventory management, merchandising, and retail operations.

● Good business judgment and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

● Comfort using POS systems, inventory software, and basic business reports.

● Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.

Knowledge of furniture styles, interior design, visual merchandising, or furniture resale values is highly desirable.

You are a hands-on leader with an entrepreneurial mindset who takes ownership of results. You enjoy working with people, have an eye for quality and presentation, and understand how great inventory, great service, and a strong team work together to create a successful retail business.

You’re equally comfortable coaching an employee, helping a customer, evaluating a piece of furniture, refreshing the showroom, reviewing sales numbers, or solving an operational problem.
