Director of Operations

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Operations to join our leadership team. This is a key leadership position responsible for providing strategic and day-to-day operational oversight across multiple areas of the organization.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Operations will work closely with physicians, clinical leaders, department managers, and administrative leadership to drive operational excellence, strengthen the patient experience, support our employees, and help position Maine Eye for continued growth.

What You'll Do

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership across Maine Eye's operational departments and multiple practice locations.
• Oversee and support managers responsible for Surgical Scheduling, Front Office Operations, Checkout/Doctor Secretaries, Facilities, Marketing, and other operational functions.
• Lead, coach, and develop department managers by establishing clear expectations, monitoring performance, and promoting accountability and employee engagement.
• Evaluate workflows, policies, and operational processes to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and service across the organization.
• Ensure operations support an exceptional patient experience by monitoring patient access, scheduling efficiency, wait times, service standards, and patient concerns.
• Provide leadership oversight of surgical scheduling, including coordination, utilization, cancellations, delays, and opportunities to improve surgical capacity.
• Oversee facilities operations, including maintenance, vendors, security, operational readiness, and support for renovations, expansions, and other projects.
• Provide leadership oversight of marketing and community initiatives that support Maine Eye's brand, services, growth, and patient engagement.
• Establish and monitor operational performance measures and use data to identify trends, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with Finance on departmental expenses, budgeting, forecasting, and responsible use of organizational resources.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO, physicians, clinical and ASC leadership, Human Resources, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and other departments to support organizational goals.
• Lead and support strategic initiatives, process improvements, change management, and implementation of new systems and programs.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; Business or Healthcare Management
• 5+ years of practice management experience required.
• Healthcare experience required; ophthalmology experience preferred.
• Experience working within a multi-site or regional organization and a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
