Automotive Mechanical Technician

STS Technical Services is hiring Automotive Mechanical Technicians in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, and validating mechanical systems within a manufacturing environment. Job Summary The Mechanical Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and operating specialized systems within vehicle assemblies. This role also supports team development by training assembly personnel and ensuring proper system usage during build and final inspection processes. Strong communication and teamwork are critical to success in this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain safety awareness when working with high voltage, high pressure hydraulic, and pneumatic systems Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair products Perform first-time installation of detail parts onto vehicles Reinstall all removed components Clean parts before and after installation Conduct functional testing of assembled systems Apply strong mechanical aptitude to support build and repair processes Work independently to meet production schedules Fabricate and rework parts safely for component assembly Diagnose and repair low voltage control systems Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED 3 or more years of mechanical experience in an automotive manufacturing environment Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience Preferred Qualifications Ten or more years of mechanical experience in automotive or machinery applications Experience using basic hand tools Understanding of JD Edwards system Electrical system programming knowledge Experience with Microsoft Office programs Experience with general fabrication equipment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Core Competencies Champion Change Lead Courageously Coach and Develop Build Relationships Provide Direction Drive for Results Demonstrate Functional Knowledge Internal and external communication and coordination Ability to read, write, and interpret instructions and procedures Decision-making within established processes Problem solving requiring interpretation of standard practices and procedures Working Conditions Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and tool use; occasional climbing and driving Non-Physical Demands: Analysis, communication, and problem solving Environmental Demands: Exposure to noise, dust, and changing work conditions Work Schedule: Routine shift hours with occasional overtime or schedule adjustments About STS Technical Services STS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that partners with leading aerospace, manufacturing, defense, and industrial organizations.
