Head of Patient Engagement, Rare Disease

Lead Biogen's patient engagement strategy across the Rare Disease portfolio, overseeing patient support programs, specialty pharmacy operations, and hub services. This role develops strategies to enhance patient access, adherence, and treatment outcomes while partnering across commercial, medical, and compliance functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead rare disease patient engagement function overseeing experience, specialty pharmacy, hub operations, and support programs
- Develop and execute strategies improving patient access, therapy initiation, adherence, and long-term treatment outcomes
- Lead specialty pharmacy partnerships and patient support services including adherence and assistance programs
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators including time-to-first-fill, adherence, retention, and program effectiveness
- Drive continuous improvement through data insights, technology adoption, and innovative support models
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 12+ years pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare services, or specialty pharmacy industry experience
- 10+ years leading patient support services, access programs, specialty pharmacy operations, or related commercial functions
- Experience supporting rare disease or specialty therapeutics with complex patient populations
- Strong understanding of patient journeys, reimbursement, access, affordability, and specialty pharmacy distribution
- Proven track record designing and optimizing patient support programs for launch and established products
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders
Compensation: $206,000–$283,250 base
