Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the ICU provides specialized care to patients dealing with conditions like CHF, respiratory distress, ACS, A-fib RVR, and post-catheterization. The role involves management of complex patient types, including those requiring chest tubes, wound vacs, and femoral arterial sheath monitoring.

Responsibilities:

• Care for patients with CHF, respiratory distress, ACS, A-fib RVR, diabetes mellitus, and CVA overflow.
• Administer blood products and manage drips such as diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitro, and heparin.
• Provide post-cath patient care, including observation of TR bands and femoral approach.
• Perform dressing changes and monitor wound vacs.
• Float to TELE, Telemetry 2EW, Med-Surg, and Neurology-Medical as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
• Completion of at least 1 travel assignment.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Experience with chest tubes, wound vacs, femoral arterial sheaths, and preferred experience with Art line, Impella, and/or IABP.
• Proficiency in EPIC EMR.
• Professional appearance in any scrub color.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1
