THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is looking for a Clerical Assistant 2 who enjoys helping people and keeping things organized. This position allows you to support a busy office while interacting with visitors and staff. Your work will help maintain clear communication throughout the District Office.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily functions of the District Office by greeting visitors, handling calls, and assisting with clerical tasks. The role plays a key part in maintaining accurate information and supporting safety and maintenance operations.

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Reception Support: Greet visitors and direct them to the proper staff or unit
• Call Handling: Answer calls, provide information to customers, and transfer callers accurately
• Mail Management: Sort incoming and outgoing mail and prepare items for delivery
• Clerical Assistance: Provide typing support, proofread documents, and assist with projects
• Safety Coordination: Track accident data, assemble reports, and maintain safety records
• General Support: Assist maintenance unit staff and complete additional administrative tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Graduation from high school; o r
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements (NSRs):

• Must possess keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.
• Must possess the ability to take and transcribe dictation.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
