Applied Composites (AC) is seeking an HR Business Partner who works with managers and employees to align human resources services with the business objectives. This position is focused on HR operations, employee support, payroll, leave administration, workers compensation, onboarding, and employee relations. This role partners with the HR Manager and business leadership in these areas as needed but does not have primary ownership of these programs.

Job Accountabilities:

• Provides day-to-day human resources support and guidance to employees and business leadership, ensuring HR practices are aligned with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Processes and administers bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee time, attendance, pay adjustments, deductions, and other payroll-related transactions. Partners with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and issues.
• Manages and coordinates leave of absence processes, including tracking employee leave, maintaining required documentation, communicating with employees and managers, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including FMLA and CFRA.
• Coordinates and facilitates new-hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring new employees receive required information, documentation, training, and resources to successfully begin their employment.
• Partners with management and employees to address employee relations matters, providing guidance on workplace concerns, policy interpretation, corrective action, and other employee issues.
• Conducts effective, thorough, and objective employee relations investigations, including gathering information, interviewing relevant parties, documenting findings, and partnering with appropriate leadership to determine and implement appropriate resolutions.
• Partners with the HR Manager and business leadership to communicate and implement HR policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable legal requirements.
• Provides guidance and support on routine HR processes and employee questions, escalating complex matters to the HR Manager or appropriate leadership when necessary.
• Supports HR initiatives, projects, and programs as assigned, ensuring timely and effective execution within designated business units.
• Identifies opportunities to improve HR processes, employee experience, and administrative efficiency.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. A High School Diploma/GED, plus four (4) years of relevant experience and appropriate certifications, may be substituted for meeting the educational requirements only.

Years of Experience:
Five (5) years of relevant experience in Human Resources, with demonstrated experience in HRIS/payroll processing, leave of absence administration, workers comp processing, employee relations, and HR operations.

Skills

• Must have hands-on knowledge and experience processing bi-weekly payroll using an HRIS/payroll system, such as ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, or a comparable system.
• Must have working knowledge of FMLA and CFRA, including leave eligibility, administration, tracking, documentation, employee communications, and compliance requirements.
• Strong knowledge of human resources programs, processes, administrative procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Demonstrated experience handling employee relations matters and conducting fair, thorough, and objective workplace investigations.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive employee information and situations with professionalism and discretion.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees, managers, and business leadership at all levels.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and changing situations.
• Ability to interpret and communicate HR policies, procedures, and employment regulations in a clear and practical manner.
• Ability to identify HR-related issues, assess potential risks, and make appropriate recommendations or escalate matters when necessary.
• Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional disciplines and collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive tasks and initiatives to completion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/payroll systems.
• Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion when dealing with sensitive employee and company information.
