Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is a newly independent public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. SENMC seeks experienced electricians to deliver Related Technical Instruction (RTI) for registered apprenticeship pathways using NCCER Electrical Levels 1–4 curriculum. NCCER's Electrical program integrates National Electrical Code® (NEC) coverage throughout and complies with U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship standards, making it a strong foundation for RTI delivery. Instruction is in-person and may use NCCER's digital resources where appropriate.

Representative RTI topics (scheduled per offering):

• Level 1: Orientation to the electrical trade; safety; electrical theory and circuits; introduction to the NEC; device boxes; hand bending; raceways and fittings; conductors and cables; construction documents; residential wiring; electrical test equipment.
• Levels 2–4: Alternating current; lighting; conduit systems; grounding and bonding; circuit protection; control systems; load calculations (branch/feeder and services); transformers; commercial services; motor theory/controls; hazardous locations; fire alarm systems; medium-voltage terminations/splices; crew leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver learning-centered RTI aligned to NCCER Electrical Levels (1–4), emphasizing safety, NEC application, and job-ready skills for apprentices.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, labs, and assessments using NCCER curriculum resources and the Instructor Toolbox / NCCERconnect as appropriate.
• Administer and proctor NCCER module tests; follow all online testing procedures and test security policies.
• Conduct and record Performance Profiles (hands-on) using NCCER's Performance Evaluation Platform or approved paper submissions; submit completions per policy.
• Maintain trainee records and submit completions to the NCCER Registry in coordination with the Accredited Training Sponsor/Training Facility.
• Coordinate schedules, classrooms/shops, materials, tools, and PPE with the Director of Adult Education; ensure lab safety and equipment readiness.
• Support apprenticeship compliance by helping plan/track RTI attendance and hours in alignment with program standards and sponsor requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement consistent with NCCER Accreditation Guidelines and SENMC procedures.
• Other duties as assigned to meet evolving workforce training needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of NEC-based electrical theory and practice across residential, commercial, and industrial contexts, commitment to safe work practices.
• Skill in administering NCCER module exams, maintaining test security, and submitting Registry records accurately and on time.
• Ability to facilitate hands-on labs and performance evaluations using NCCER Performance Profiles and related platform tools.
• Excellent communication and classroom management; punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for rosters, materials, and reporting.

Work Schedule & Modality:

• Variable, part-time; courses may run days, evenings, or weekends based on sponsor/employer demand.
• In-person delivery at SENMC or employer-approved sites; occasional regional travel may be required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Stand, walk, reach, and handle tools/materials; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed for demonstrations and lab setups.
• Use manual dexterity and fine motor skills; operate a computer and audiovisual equipment; read and prepare technical documents and assessments.
• Communicate clearly in oral and written forms; proofread and check documents for accuracy.
• Safely lift, move, and position equipment or materials (typically up to 50lbs) and wear appropriate PPE in lab environments.
• Ability to work a fluctuating schedule aligned to course and sponsor needs.
