Assistant State Attorney – 16th Circuit (Key West & Marathon) Join the State Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor in Monroe County, Florida. The Office is located in the Florida Keys and serves a unique island community. We seek individuals with strong character, sound judgment, and a passion for justice. Roles and Responsibilities Manage diverse criminal caseloads from initiation to resolution Screen cases, interview victims and witnesses, and make charging decisions Attend discovery depositions, conduct legal research, and draft legal documents Negotiate plea agreements, argue motions before judges, and try cases before juries Qualifications Law degree from an accredited law school Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Good moral character and successful criminal background investigation Superior communication skills and professional demeanor in interactions with victims, witnesses, judges, defense attorneys, and law enforcement partners Basic computer skills Compensation and Benefits Salaries start at $80,000 with a comprehensive benefits package and participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS).
