Accounts Payable Manager

Large, multi-site publicly traded consumer products organization Chicago, IL | Primarily Remote | Occasional In-Person Meetings in Chicago A growing and notable Chicago organization is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to lead and modernize its AP function. This is more than traditional AP leadership. The ideal candidate will combine strong people leadership with a track record of process improvement, systems optimization, internal controls, and cross-functional partnership. The position reports into senior finance leadership and will play a key role in building a more scalable AP process. This opportunity is well-suited for a leader who enjoys building better processes, improving systems, mentoring teams, and creating a more strategic AP function above and beyond maintaining day-to-day operations. Responsibilities Lead the daily operation of a high-volume accounts payable function Supervise a team consisting of AP professionals, leads, and supervisors Ensure timely invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements Review AP aging, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting schedules Partner closely with Accounting, Treasury, Finance, and operational stakeholders Develop and document scalable policies, procedures, SOPs, and process maps Strengthen internal controls and drive compliance across the procure-to-pay cycle Lead AP-related system enhancements, implementations, and reporting improvements Establish meaningful KPIs and performance metrics for the department Support audit requests and year-end reporting requirementsDrive continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls Assist with the integration of newly acquired operations and business units Build an AP function that scales effectively alongside company growth Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Progressive accounts payable leadership experience Experience managing direct reports within a corporate environment Demonstrated success leading process improvement or transformation initiatives Strong understanding of AP operations, month-end close support, accruals, and internal controls Experience working with ERP systems, implementations, upgrades, or major enhancements Ability to partner effectively across Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and Operations Strong analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset Excellent communication and leadership abilities Highly Valued Experience Multi-site or high-growth organizations Shared services environments Acquisition integration support ERP implementation or AP automation projects KPI development and operational reporting enhancements Compensation Base salary target: $115,000 - $130,000 Paid time off and company holidays Retirement savings plan Health, dental, and vision coverage Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: The California Fair Chance Act Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers #J-18808-Ljbffr
