Field Service Technician I

Clean Harbors in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Field Service Technician, I / Emergency Response to join our safety‑conscious team. This role will be active in the field, responsible for hazardous waste clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials. Travel / On Call / Emergency Response Driver's license required Monday through Friday schedule, average start time 6 AM Average 8‑10+ hour day; overtime after 40 hours Must be available for emergency response and occasional project work (evenings & weekends) Possible overnight travel – hotel and per diem provided Note: This position requires new hires to attend a two‑week Academy training out of state. Expenses are covered by the company, and it is paid training. Health and safety is our priority Focus on sustainability and Earth‑cleaning Pay range $20–22 per hour Comprehensive health benefits after 30 days of full‑time employment, 401(k) with company match Employee Stock Purchase Plan Opportunities for growth and development at all career stages Company‑paid training and tuition reimbursement Key Responsibilities Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects Operate light and heavy equipment, hand tools, and powered industrial tools; work with vibration‑producing tools Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and full body protection Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Work in atmospheres and locations with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and low‑clearance areas Work at elevations, including from ladders and scaffolding Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into/out of trucks, tanks, and other containers Work extended (> 8 hrs.) time periods Attend all compliance and safety update meetings Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance Safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state and federal requirements Observe all corporate and environmental health and safety operating guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week Perform site‑remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials Required Qualifications Reliable transportation Ability to perform physical functions required by the key responsibilities Continuing condition of employment: agree to be on‑call; work on weekends and holidays; emergency response situations may extend beyond 8 hrs., up to 12‑24 hrs.
