Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at an 89-bed teaching facility in Presque Isle, ME, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a ME or compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is an 89-bed licensed teaching hospital with an 11-bed Emergency Department, including 3 trauma ED beds, 1 behavioral seclusion room, and 2 negative pressure rooms
• Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, including general ED, trauma, stroke, STEMI, and behavioral health cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, variable based on patient acuity; tech ratio is 1:11
• Charting system is FirstNet
• Night shift schedule: 7P–7A, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• No on-call or float requirements
• Holiday coverage required as needed

Requirements

• Active ME or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• TNCC and NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Skills required include EKGs, IV starts, TNKase administration, nebulizer treatments, BiPAP initiation, suture removal, casting assistance, and vent management
• Candidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME
• Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
• Two professional references within the past year required, at least one from a supervisor, manager, or director (charge nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
• Copies of all certifications required
• Valid driver's license required
• Full SSN required
• Flu vaccination required for clearance to start

Additional Information

• Interviews conducted via Simplifi
• Orientation consists of two days of hospital orientation (including time in the department) followed by one day with a preceptor
• Unit support includes an ED provider, mid-level provider (hours vary), hospitalist (24/7), house supervisor, receptionist (24/7), ED techs, critical care transport team, and security on site 24/7
• Respiratory therapy is available on day shift only but can be called in for unstable patients as needed
• Charge RN experience is a plus — candidates should be prepared to discuss any charge nurse background
• Any color professional scrubs are acceptable; hospital scrubs are available but not required
• On-site locker/changing room, gym, and free parking available
• The facility and surrounding area are described as a welcoming community
