Position Highlights Position: Advanced Practice Provider in the cardiac ICU (22 beds; co-located with a separate Neuro ICU service) Location: Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL Full Time: 36 hours per week Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Nights, weekends, and holidays required with generous shift differentials Inpatient role Job Description Exciting opportunity to join Endeavor Health in the cardiac ICU. The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality, appropriate, and cost-effective critical care to patients in the Cardiac ICU, with a primary focus on post–cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular disease. This role offers a highly collaborative and well-supported care model. Under the direction of the collaborating physician, the APP provides care to patients in the cardiac ICU at Edward Hospital. The responsibilities include obtaining detailed history, performing physical examinations, ordering imaging, lab tests, and diagnostic procedures, interpreting results, instructing patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions, maintaining records, writing progress notes, and following patients through their course of treatment. The APP collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes, prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate, demonstrates evidence-based practice, and participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty. The APP assesses the learning needs of patients and families, employs strategies for health promotion, provides comprehensive health assessments, formulates differential diagnoses, and prescribes treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease. The APP works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants, positively contributes to safety outcomes, promotes high-quality patient experience, and supports the strategic plan of the organization. The APP adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures. About the Cardiac ICU 22-bed Cardiac‑Neuro ICU (separate Neuro‑ICU service) Average daily census: 12–14 patients Primary patient population includes: Post–open heart cardiac surgery patients Acute coronary syndromes, including STEMI Post-cardiac procedural patients Advanced heart failure Electrophysiology-related admissions Other complex cardiovascular disease states The Cardiac ICU is co-located with a Neuro ICU that is staffed and managed by a separate dedicated Neuro ICU team. Qualifications License: Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required. Education: Completion of master’s level program in specialty area. Certification: BLS/CPR certification required. ACLS certification required. Experience: Critical care experience as an APP preferred. Willing to consider new graduate ACNPs with prior critical care experience as an RN.
