Store 1094, North Utica Shopping Plaza, Utica, New York, United States of America Job Description Summary Assists customers with frame selection, fits, and dispensation of frames. Utilizes technical information to interpret prescriptions and guides customers in choosing optical products and services. Pay Class and Pay Pay Class: Full Time Pay: $24.50 - $36.75 per hour Responsibilities Assist each customer in frame and lens selection while meeting social‑distance requirements. Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols, and hygiene practices (frequent handwashing, no shaking hands, cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, avoid touching eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands). Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections, and related services. Provide customers covered by Third‑Party insurance with accurate information regarding benefits to ensure proper selection of frames and lenses, and inform them of any additional charges not covered. Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations based on patient needs, using all available demonstration tools. Analyze and interpret patient prescriptions. Communicate as necessary with the lab and optometrist to ensure prescription accuracy. Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories through accurate measurements, verification, and adjustments according to the Eyewear Presentation. Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area. Ensure accurate pricing for retail customers. Provide feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians where applicable. Adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and proprietary company policies and procedures (e.g., HIPAA). Participate in all training and educational activities required to meet departmental goals and maintain professional affiliations. Diligently maintain cleanliness of all equipment, workstations, and the overall facility daily. Complete additional responsibilities as assigned due to changing business needs. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience & Background Maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in explaining optical products, services, prescription analysis, fitting, and dispensing. Language Skills Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and associates. Mathematical Skills Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Essential Responsibilities related to Physical Demands/Work Environment Requires standing, using hands and fingers to handle or pick objects, talking or hearing most of the time, and occasional walking, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Noise level is moderate. Essential Responsibilities related to Behavioral Characteristics Basic computer literacy. Strong communication skills and a desire to work with the public. Outgoing, positive professional personality and appearance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to interact well with doctors and other associates. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Flexibility to support change. Ability to work onsite and participate in interactive onsite meetings regularly. Ability to initiate immediate interaction, coordination, and collaboration with team members, clients, and customers. Associates may have access to covered information, cardholder data, or other confidential customer information which must be protected at all times. All data security guidelines shall be followed as established in the Company’s Privacy & Security Training Program.
