SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST (SURG TECH) Weekends

Summary This shift should be two 7a to 330p shifts and two 7a-730p shifts per week. UNIT SUMMARY: Northwest Hospital's main operating room (Main OR) provides innovative surgical services on both inpatient and outpatients. The main surgical suite consists of a new exquisite pre- and post-operative area, five operating rooms, one Cysto suite and a new endoscopy suite. The main operating room cares for approximately 480 surgical patients a month. Patients of surgical services may require care following general or orthopedic, neurologic, urologic, gynecologic, thoracic, vascular, podiatric, cosmetic procedures. Surgical service employees provide excellent care to their patients and follow Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nursing Practice (ASPAN) standards of care. Surgical staff must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the surgical team, provides technical assistance to the surgeon/physician during surgical intervention under the supervision of the RN. When not directly assisting the physician in a procedure, may participate in the rendering of patient care under the direction of the Surgical Assistant Coordinator or a Registered Nurse.
