General Manager – High-Volume Nightclub & Hospitality Venue

Position Overview

A high-volume Houston nightlife and hospitality venue is seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to oversee all aspects of venue operations.

This position is intended for a proven hospitality leader with direct experience managing high-volume nightclubs, bars, lounges, or late-night entertainment venues .

We are looking for someone who understands that successful nightlife management requires much more than managing a floor. The General Manager will be responsible for financial performance, staffing, guest experience, inventory and liquor controls, labor management, compliance, security coordination, VIP/table service operations, and overall venue execution.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, financially disciplined, decisive under pressure, and capable of leading a large team in a fast-paced nightlife environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day and nightlife operations
• Lead, train, schedule, and hold management and staff accountable
• Manage opening, service, closing, and cash-control procedures
• Maintain exceptional guest service and venue standards
• Monitor and improve sales, labor costs, liquor costs, COGS, and profitability
• Review P&L performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue and control expenses
• Oversee liquor, beer, wine, and supply inventory
• Implement strong controls for comps, voids, discounts, spills, transfers, and waste
• Maintain accurate payroll and labor management
• Oversee bartenders, cocktail servers, bottle service, barbacks, hosts, support staff, and management
• Coordinate closely with security management and ensure proper incident documentation
• Manage VIP and table-service operations during high-volume nights
• Execute major events, artist appearances, holidays, and special programming
• Maintain compliance with TABC regulations and applicable local requirements
• Ensure operational policies and SOPs are consistently followed
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and management meetings
• Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and when necessary discipline staff
• Work closely with ownership on financial performance, operational strategy, and growth
• Provide clear reporting and over communication to ownership
• Maintain a professional, accountable, solutions-oriented management culture

Required Experience

Applicants should have direct management experience in a high-volume nightclub, bar, lounge, or comparable late-night hospitality environment.

Preferred candidates will have:

• 5+ years of hospitality management experience
• 3+ years in senior management, AGM, GM, Director of Operations, or comparable leadership
• Proven experience managing high-volume alcohol sales
• Experience managing large teams
• Strong understanding of P&L statements and operating budgets
• Strong liquor-cost and inventory-control knowledge
• Experience managing labor percentages and scheduling
• Knowledge of TABC requirements
• Experience with POS systems and financial reporting
• Experience with VIP/table service and nightlife operations
• Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to remain composed and decisive during extremely high-volume operations

Schedule Requirements

This is not a traditional 9-to-5 management position.

The General Manager must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, major events, and late-night closing hours as required by the business.

The GM is expected to be physically present and actively leading operations during the venue’s most important business periods.

We want an operator, not simply a floor manager.

The successful candidate understands the numbers behind the business, develops strong managers underneath them, establishes accountability, protects the company’s assets, maintains operational discipline, and knows how to deliver an exceptional nightlife experience while maintaining profitability.

You should be comfortable walking into a high-volume Saturday night, identifying operational problems quickly, making decisions, and taking ownership of the outcome.

Compensation

Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus

Compensation will be based on demonstrated experience, previous volume managed, and overall qualifications:
