NURSING PROGRAM SPECIALIST – STAFF DEVELOPMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27. At least (6) years of professional nursing experience? ( A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing or a related field AND two years of nursing experience, or verifiable professional nursing experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR.) Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications: Experience in a long-term health care environment (nursing home; skilled nursing; or assisted living facility). Experience in staff education.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Develop, implement, and maintain a written framework of staff educational plan that promotes the growth and development of its licensed and unlicensed staff. Develop, coordinate, and monitor facility orientation; lead the nursing assistant training program; and continuing education program, including preparation of comprehensive curriculum, pre- and post-testing materials, scheduling, and recordkeeping requirements. Identify, analyze, and provide training for individualized needs identified because of posttest/performance monitoring. Arrange and conduct orientation classes for all newly hired personnel. Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support and perform this skill when necessary. Research and development of regularly updated resource guide of professional training opportunities available to facility personnel. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Service. Perform all duties assigned in a cooperative, effective, timely and professional manner.
