Benefits Competitive Pay – starting pay $25.15-26.80 per hour based on experience and education Merit increases at 6, 12, and yearly thereafter Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability benefits, 401k plan with company match, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, paid vacation, paid holidays, stock purchase program, discount program (travel, hotels, entertainment, gym memberships, etc.) Relocation bonus of $2,500 when relocating from outside a 50‑mile radius Job Stability Career Growth Opportunities Hands‑On Approach, Customer Focus, Teamwork, People‑First Culture, Immediate Hiring Shift Overview Openings are on 1st Shift Shift times and overtime vary by position, department, and location 1st Shift: Monday – Thursday, four 10‑hour days, overtime worked at the beginning of the shift and on Fridays and occasionally Saturdays Job Summary The Sheet Metal Fabricator (Machine Operator I) checks job sheets, sets up machines, operates various sheet‑metal fabrication machines, reads blueprints, and maintains a clean, safe environment. Essential Functions Communicate verbally with coworkers for safety Operate sheet‑metal fabrication machines (press brakes, lasers, water jets, turrets, rollers, panel benders) Set up and prepare parts for cutting and forming operations Use a computer for machine setup Load/unload materials into machines and equipment Read and apply measurements to parts and equipment Interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, and job routings Move light and heavy parts by hand or cart Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks Assist coworkers with lifting parts Sweep and clean the shop area Work overtime and rotate jobs as needed Maintain a clean, safe working environment Marginal Work Functions Grinding, buffing, drilling, bending materials (may be essential by location) Assist inventory of parts Operate a materials cart or forklift to transport parts Participate in machine rotation Basic Qualifications Previous experience with basic hand tools Preferred Qualifications Metal fabrication experience Prior experience with Pierce as a team member or contractor At least one year of metal fabrication experience Key Abilities Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations Strong interpersonal communication skills Recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions Use and wear personal protective equipment as required Hear safety alarms and colleague signals Count and measure accurately Read measurements and blueprints effectively Follow supervisor and coworker instructions Identify safety issues Maintain balance on slippery floors and portable steps Lift and manipulate parts up to 50 pounds Operate overhead hoists safely Tolerate constant standing and walking Use both hands for tool and machine operation and assist in heavy lifting Operate and access heavy equipment safely Remember task sequence and safety constraints Competencies Interpersonal skills Effective communication Build work relationships Demonstrate responsibility Express appreciation Personal attributes Adaptability Hard‑working Positive attitude Oshkosh is committed to reasonable accommodations for job applicants with disabilities.
