Business Development Manager - Chemicals - Surfactants (Greater Chicago Area)

Our client, one of the world’s largest global chemical producers, has an immediate need for a New Business Development Manager to lead the development of new markets and applications. This individual will identify, evaluate, and advance customer opportunities from initial concept through commercialization, with a focus on emerging and underpenetrated markets.

This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with a strong hunter mentality and entrepreneurial spirit who excels at uncovering new business opportunities, building relationships from the ground up, and driving profitable growth in untapped markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding sales of core chemistries, including surfactants, polymers, and other non-ionic surfactants.

This is a highly strategic and collaborative position that will develop and execute market penetration strategies to accelerate technology adoption, expand market presence, and drive sustainable revenue growth.

The position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates based in the Midwest or on the East Coast. Candidates located elsewhere will also be considered, provided they are within convenient access to a major airport. Approximately 50% travel throughout the United States is required to engage with customers, develop relationships, and pursue new business opportunities.

Requirements:

• BS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other Science discipline highly preferred.
• 5+ years experience in Technical Sales, Market or New Business Development in surfactant technology.
• Proven track record in identifying, developing and commercializing new business opportunities in new or underpenetrated markets.
• Strong commercial acumen, including opportunity qualification, value proposition development, pipeline management and negotiation.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial and hunter mindset, with the ability to execute hands-on business development initiatives and lead cross functional teams to drive profitable growth.
• Excellent communication, influencing, relationship-building and presentation skills.
