The RN uses both a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to patient care./ppResponsibilities include assisting surgeons and the surgical team to care for the patient before, during, and after surgery./ppSurgical specialties include General Surgery, Pain Procedures, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Obstetrics, ENT, Orthopedics, and Endoscopy./ppMajor Job Duties Responsibilities/pulliPromotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization./liliAssesses patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures./liliDevelops an individualized perioperative patient plan of care./liliPerforms job duties in accordance with AORN Perioperative Job Descriptions and Competencies 2012 version./liliEvaluates the patients progress toward attaining outcomes./liliTransfers care as appropriate./liliDelegates tasks as appropriate according to Montana Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions./liliDocuments nursing care accurately, completely and legibly./liliCollaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate./liliParticipates in quality review and performance improvement projects./liliActs as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information./liliUses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members./liliMaintains required competencies: 1) Circulating all orthopedics, podiatry, eye procedures, general, OB/GYN, dental procedures. 2) Scrubbing orthopedics, podiatry, eye procedures, general, OB/GYN, dental procedures if requested. 3) Performs all job duties of pre-op post-op patient care./liliPursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization./li/ulpSkills, Knowledge, Abilities/pulliBasic computer knowledge./liliAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing./liliKnowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and procedures./liliKnowledge of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment./liliAbility to assess patients needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care./liliDemonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations./liliAbility to develop perioperative patient plan of care./liliKnowledge of AORN and Montana Nurse Practice Act./liliPossess problem-solving and conflict resolution skills./li/ulpEducation Requirements/pulliBLS, ACLS, PALS NRP (must obtain within 3 months of hire)./liliCNOR Preferred./li/ulpExperience/pulliTwo years perioperative services experience preferred./li/ulpSchedule/pulliWork hours are based on the needs of the department and may change.
