Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.CIVIL ENGINEER, WATER RESOURCESAs a member of the Construction Projects Team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable SpaceX to achieve its long-term mission. This team is responsible for the delivery of large capital projects to various internal customer groups across the Company. This position is currently based out of the Bastrop area. Travel may accompany this role, and based on business needs, opportunities to work at other SpaceX facilities may occur in the future.RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and build industrial water resources projects, including water treatment and delivery infrastructure, at a rapid pace to support company objectivesPerform all calculations necessary for hydraulics, filtration, water quality, domestic and non-potable water distribution, and other underground utilitiesManage the civil and water resources aspects of construction projects in the fieldInteract with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clientsResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real timeBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline2+ years of professional experience in the engineering or construction of water resources projectsPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensePrevious experience with civil design software packages including AutoCAD and/or Civil3DWorking knowledge of hydraulic modeling and softwareKnowledge of processes of governing permitting and/or environmental agenciesUnderstanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying that are necessary to efficiently construct infrastructureExperience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor managementADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Working conditions may be in tight quarters and physical dexterity is requiredAble to lift heavy objects up to 25 lbs unassistedAble to respond to emergencies to support priority projects, missions, and launchesAvailable to work extended hours and weekends as needed based on site operational needs; flexibility is requiredAble to work in extreme outdoor environments when needed – heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.Able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noiseAble to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed (up to 25%)ITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
