Refractory Technician

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: The Refractory Technician performs masonry type work utilizing refractory materials while minimizing down time and promoting a safe work environment. Responsibilities Maintain a safe work environment, free of harassment. Ability to provide clear direction, exert situational leadership, motivating self and others, leading by example. Strong ability to trouble‑shoot and problem‑solve, using team‑building skills in all efforts. Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities Demonstrated record of establishing and meeting or exceeding goals and objectives Proven record of planning and scheduling maintenance functions in order to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve throughput utilizing lean manufacturing principles without negatively impacting production. Demonstrated ability to train, develop, and evaluate Refractory technicians. Enforce a high standard of expected maintenance workmanship at all times. Coach and counsel employees on standard refractory practices and "best practices" for increased performance. Coordinate and evaluate the training of new employees in their job requirements. Monitor quality of refractory work to ensure job specifications are being met or exceeded Work in conjunction with production and other departments to ensure maintenance schedule is met. Qualifications Associate Degree or Journeyman’s card in industrial trade field preferred. Two (2) to four (4) years experience utilizing leadership skills in a manufacturing maintenance environment in a supervisory capacity. The ability to work overtime, weekends, and shift work as required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills Aptitude for detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment Constellium Muscle Shoals is an aluminum manufacturing plant based in Alabama with over 1,200 employees. With its widest strip mill in the USA and a world-class recycling center, the site represents one of the largest sites within Constellium and is a world-class can recycling center, with the capacity to recycle nearly 20 billion cans per year. Muscle Shoals’ main product is aluminum can sheet for the packaging industry, particularly for beverage containers. It manufactures sheet used in all three components of an aluminum can, namely body stock, coated end stock and tab stock. Additionally, Muscle Shoals’ supplies Auto Body Sheet substrate to Constellium’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, site.
