About the Opportunity Staff Accountant - Engineering Location: Baskin Ridge, NJ area Industry: Engineering / Professional Services Employment Type: Full-Time Our client is a well-established engineering and professional services organization seeking a Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to build on their experience, expand their skill set, and take on increasing responsibility within a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across general accounting, financial reporting, and cash management functions. Key Responsibilities Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations Analyze general ledger activity and research discrepancies Assist with financial statements and management reporting Monitor cash balances and assist with cash forecasting Support audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting requirements Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies Assist with special projects and other team priorities as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field General accounting experience Strong understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work independently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Experience 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint Background in engineering, consulting, professional services, or another project-based environment Experience with project accounting, audits, and/or multi-entity accounting What We're Looking For The successful candidate will be someone who: Takes ownership and follows through on responsibilities Is curious and motivated to continue learning Works well in a collaborative team environment Is flexible and willing to take on new challenges Maintains high standards for accuracy and quality Brings a positive, professional attitude and a good sense of humor to the workplace This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional looking to join a strong team and grow their career within a respected engineering-focused organization.
