Maintenance Worker

Job Description

Semi-skilled trades work responsible for performing maintenance at Public Utilities facilities including maintenance on treatment plant equipment and grounds maintenance at the treatment plant and pump stations.

Job Description:

• Routine maintenance on treatment plant equipment.
• Minor repairs on equipment and at facilities.
• Cleaning and painting equipment and facilities.
• Plant and pump station grounds maintenance.
• Complete work orders regarding maintenance activities.
• Report failures and deficiencies of equipment to supervisor.

Safety:

• Follow all safety procedures as listed but not limited to lockout/tag out, confined spaces, wearing eye and hearing protection.

Perquisites / Allowances: Must wear Uniforms and Safety Shoes

Work Hours: 40 Hours Per Week - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. This position is 40 hours per week and the hours will be Sunday through Saturday between 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Variations in facility operation may require overtime, modification of work schedule or variable starting and ending times. Cross training at various facilities may be required. Must be available to work in EOC during emergency activation. Schedule may vary pending weather conditions and emergencies.

About You

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one year of experience in the applicable trade encompassed by the position. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Skill or experience with pumps, motors, hydraulics, plumbing, electrical controls, or other mechanical repairs preferred.

Job Competencies: Safety training in Hazcom, Confined Spaces, Hearing Protection, Lockout/Tagout, Personal Protection Equipment.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
