Work will entail performing in-field walk-downs of sites and facilities, analyzing systems and components, preparing design concepts sketches and drawings, compiling data and writing technical narrative reports. In addition, assigned work tasks will be diversified and require successful candidates to "think outside the box" and work well with multi-disciplinary engineering design teams.Essential FunctionsPerform facility mechanical and/or plumbing design engineering (plans, specifications, calculations and cost estimates) for new facilities, facility modernization and aerospace ground support facilities and equipment projects.Perform system sizing calculations using engineering software and tools such as HVAC heat load calculations (Trane TRACE), pump sizing calculations, plumbing system sizing per code, etc.Perform facility condition assessments and capital asset management planning.Perform detailed construction cost analyses using RSMeans CostWorks and material take-offs of a variety of building types and equipment types (both US and international locations).Perform field construction support.Write technical design narrative reports and engineering trade studies.Work with multi-disciplinary design teams.CompetenciesEffective interpersonal skills and strong communication (written and verbal)Confident and ambitious problem solverCreative and InnovativeSelf-directed InitiativeDependableUnderstands the culture of businessDetail OrientedQualificationsBS Mechanical Engineering degree required from an ABET accredited program.Entry Level position - 0 to 3 years' experience.Prefer prior engineering co-op/internship experienceProficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams/Sharepoint and email ApplicationsExperience in Autodesk Revit (experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, PTC Creo or Solidworks and other modeling/drafting software preferred).Experience in construction cost estimation software such as CostWorks or design markup/takeoffs in Bluebeam preferred.Additional Eligibility QualificationsValid/Unrestricted FL driver licenseWork Authorization/Security ClearanceMust be a US CitizenAbility to obtain a clearance from the Defense Security Service and other Federal Government Agencies.Work EnvironmentMost work is performed in an office environment. Field investigations and construction support require regular trips to operating facilities and active construction sites.TravelPosition is based out of Merritt Island, FL location.
