The Camp Communications & Marketing Manager plays a central role in Camp Barney Medintz's year-round success, leading camper and staff recruitment marketing, family communications, and the summer camp office, while also owning the camper registration process and our CampMinder platform. This role is often a family's first and most consistent point of contact with Camp Barney, from their first click on our website through the final form submitted before opening day.

The position is based in Camp Barney Medintz's Atlanta office during the non-summer months, relocating to camp in Cleveland, GA for the summer season.

Recruitment

• Lead camper and staff recruitment marketing, developing campaigns, materials, and messaging that showcase Camp Barney Medintz's programs, culture, and dual staffing model of counselors and specialists.
• Manage camp's presence in external camp fair guides and family-facing directories, such as the JCamping Camp Fair, to support new camper family recruitment.
• Partner with the Associate Director and Executive Director on staff recruitment strategy, including messaging and materials aimed at college students, young professionals, and returning staff.
• Track recruitment goals and results across camper enrollment and staff hiring, adjusting strategy and messaging throughout the year as needed.

Marketing

• Partner with the Associate Director, Executive Director, and the Marcus JCC of Atlanta’s Marketing Department to execute an annual marketing plan that positions Camp Barney Medintz as a premier camp destination for young people. 
• Maintain and update the camp website, email marketing campaigns, and social media content calendar.

Communications

• Serve as a primary point of contact for family-facing communications throughout the year and during the summer season.
• Draft, edit, and distribute family newsletters, updates, and announcements with a consistent, warm, and professional voice.
• Maintain consistency of Camp Barney's terminology and traditions, including Our Summer Place, Milk Line, Unit Heads, Head Specialists, and Cabins, across all materials.
• Support emergency and crisis communications protocols in partnership with camp leadership.

Registration & CampMinder Administration

• Serve as the camp's primary administrator of CampMinder, our registration software, including session setup, form building, and enrollment caps.
• Manage the full annual registration cycle, including returning-family and new-family registration windows, ensuring a smooth and timely process for all families.
• Troubleshoot family-facing registration issues, payment plans, and system errors.
• Generate and analyze registration reports to inform staffing, cabin assignments, and program planning.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of camper and family data throughout the year.
• Train summer office staff on CampMinder use and registration procedures.

Summer Office Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the camp office throughout the summer season.
• Interview, hire, train, and supervise summer office staff.
• Serve as a key resource for parents, staff, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and organized front-of-house experience.
• Manage office systems, supplies, and administrative workflows to support smooth daily camp operations.

Forms Process Management

• Own the end-to-end forms process for campers and staff, including health forms, permission forms, and onboarding paperwork.
• Ensure all required forms are collected, tracked, and compliant with camp, state, and American Camp Association standards ahead of arrival.
• Partner with the Health Center and HR teams on form requirements, deadlines, and follow-up.
• Build and maintain forms-tracking dashboards to give camp leadership clear visibility into completion status.

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 2–4 years of experience in operations, registration, marketing, communications, or camp/nonprofit administration.
• Experience with camp registration software (CampMinder or similar) strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with careful attention to tone and detail.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; experience with email marketing and CRM tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with Jewish culture, values, and traditions is a plus.
• Experience in a Jewish nonprofit or summer camp setting is a plus.
• A genuine passion for Camp Barney Medintz's mission and the ability to convey it through clear, engaging communication.
