Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular Nurse (ICU OH) San Antonio, Texas
The Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular Nurse provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. This role supports patients and families by addressing increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs, while administering medications and treatments according to appropriate protocols and monitoring for effectiveness and side effects. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 7PM - 7AM, 10 shift hours; minimum 40.0 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred); RN License in state of Texas or compact; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association only); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association only); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association only); (Pediatric cardiac experience: chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, vasoactive infusions)
• Preferred Qualifications: 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty; 1 year of experience in a Critical Care setting (new graduates may be accepted)
• Responsibilities:
  • Provides nursing care consistent with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with level of practice
  • Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness
  • Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources
  • Meets expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
