Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a workforce of approximately 101 to 500 employees in Overland Park, Kansas. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing end-to-end payroll activities, resolving pay-related issues, and maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. The right candidate will bring strong organizational skills, sound judgment with confidential information, and hands-on experience handling payroll deductions and garnishments.
Responsibilities:• Process complete payroll cycles for employees with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Review timekeeping and payroll data, identify discrepancies, and make corrections before payroll is finalized.
• Maintain payroll records, earnings, deductions, and employee updates in accordance with established procedures.
• Administer wage garnishments and other involuntary deductions while ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Respond to employee questions related to pay, deductions, and payroll records in a courteous and timely manner.
• Reconcile payroll totals and supporting reports to confirm accurate payments and withholdings.
• Coordinate with internal teams such as Human Resources and Accounting to ensure payroll information is current and complete.
• Support payroll-related process updates or system changes as needed while helping maintain continuity in payroll operations.• Previous experience in payroll processing, including full cycle payroll responsibilities.
• Hands-on ability to manage payroll for an employee population ranging from 101 to 500 employees.
• Working knowledge of payroll deductions, taxes, and garnishment administration.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Proficiency in reviewing payroll data, identifying errors, and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
• Effective communication skills for assisting employees and collaborating with internal departments.
• Ability to meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
